SACRAMENTO – Senator Anna Caballero today joined colleagues and community leaders from around the state to call for an end to child poverty in California.

The state Lifting Children and Families Out of Poverty Task Force recently issued a report detailing how California has the highest number of children and highest percentage of children living in poverty of any state in the nation — almost 2 million children, or one out of every five kids.

“What the task force report says to me is that California needs to redouble its efforts to end child poverty and ensure our most vulnerable children have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. I am proud to join the efforts of the task force to do exactly that.  I have introduced The Lifting Children and Families Out of Poverty Act to ensure our state implements goals and has a process in place to measure our success in tackling this pressing issue and reduce overall child poverty.”
