Senator Anna M. Caballero Assumes Position as Chair of Appropriations Committee

Sacramento- Today, Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) will assume her position as Chair of the Appropriations Committee. The Senate Appropriations Committee meets every Monday at 10 a.m. and typically between early April through the May fiscal deadline and late June through the August fiscal deadline. All bills with a fiscal impact are referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Senator Caballero released the following statement in February upon learning of her appointment:

“I am entering the 2024 legislative cycle energized and excited for the work ahead. I am thankful for the trust placed in me by Pro Tem McGuire, and feel honored to serve alongside such a diverse group of colleagues. During my time in the Senate representing a largely rural, agricultural area, I have worked to shine a light on the needs of working families. Good paying jobs, affordable housing and a quality education are part of every person’s California Dream. As the Chair of the Appropriations Committee it is my duty to evaluate hundreds of Senate and Assembly bills to ensure that California is investing resources where they are needed most.”
