Senator Anna M. Caballero to Continue Representation of the Salinas Valley and San Benito County in the California State Legislature

Sacramento: The Senate Rules Committee appointed Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) to continue to represent the Salinas Valley and San Benito County for the next two years. The redistricting process done by a neutral committee and based on census numbers and public input, takes place every ten years. Approximately 3.6 million Californians were left without Senate representation due to the redistricting process including the Salinas Valley and San Benito County. The Senate Rules Committee adopted a Deferred Area Assignment process to assign current Senators to represent impacted districts in order for constituents to have access to services and representation.

In addition to her official Senate District 14 constituency, Senator Caballero will represent an additional 300,000 people. The assignment remains in effect until 2024 when the newly elected Senator assumes the district.

* Senator Anna M. Caballero serves as the Interim Representative for the Salinas Valley and San Benito County until 2024 when a newly elected Senator will assume the district
