Senator Anna M. Caballero Introduces California Senate Resolution in Honor of the United Mexican States Election of Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum

Sacramento: Senator Anna M Caballero (D-Merced) introduced Senate Resolution 124. The resolution recognizes and congratulates the United Mexican States for the historic achievement in electing its first female President, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum.

Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum’s election represents a major advancement in gender equity and a notable shift in the global political landscape. This major achievement makes Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum the first female elected president among the three largest North American countries, including Canada and the United States of America. 

Historically, Mexico maintains strong cultural, historical, social and economic ties with California through its history, border and people. As the world's 10th most populous country, Mexico is the second largest export partner and the largest source of imports from the United States of America.

“The election of Dr.Sheinbaum represents a significant step forward in advancing gender equity by breaking longstanding barriers and setting a powerful precedent for women's leadership, said Senator Anna Caballero (D-Merced). “Her presidency will inspire young girls and women, particularly women of color, across California and the world, encouraging greater involvement in politics, STEM fields and climate action.”
