Senator Anna M. Caballero Issues Statement on Governor Newsom’s January Budget Proposal

Sacramento- Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced), Member of the Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, released the following statement on the 2024-25 state budget proposal released by Governor Gavin Newsom today:

“The state of California is prepared to face this year’s difficult budgetary challenges with discipline and resolve. With record reserves and sensible budgeting, I am cautiously optimistic that we can avoid cuts to the core programs that so many Californians rely on. We will certainly need to tighten our belts, but I appreciate the Governor’s commitment to protect the progress we have made over the last decade. I look forward to the budget hearings and discussions in the coming months”
