Senator Anna M. Caballero Issues Statement on President Joe Biden’s Decision to End Re-election Campaign:

“Thank you, President Joe Biden and First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden for leading our Nation with Dedication, Empathy and Wisdom.”

“Thank you, President Joe Biden for your more than fifty years of service, putting our country first.

Over the weekend, we witnessed a human moment with the difficult decision made by President Biden to end his re-election campaign. In a final act of patriotism, our President chose to lead with humility and selflessness. Our nation owes him a debt of gratitude and appreciation for his work to preserve and protect our democracy.

President Biden’s legacy goes beyond the historic legislation he championed throughout his political career. His never-ending commitment to inclusivity cannot be understated. The decision to choose our state’s own beloved, Kamala Harris as Vice President, was just one of many examples of his progressive leadership style. Another example was the historic selection to appoint Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first African-American woman to serve on the Supreme Court. The President appointed and uplifted leaders of all backgrounds, making his cabinet a true reflection of our nation’s diversity.

President Biden was one of the first national leaders to openly support marriage equality, codifying same-sex marriage into law in 2022. He was responsible for steering our nation out of the pandemic and restoring our economy. He invested in our nation’s infrastructure, provided direct relief to Americans and businesses affected by COVID and created 15 million jobs nation-wide, of which California benefited significantly. He was responsible for capping insulin prices for seniors at $35 a month, which saved many lives and relieved a massive burden.  Through the PACT ACT, he expanded funding for veterans, like his late son Beau, affected by toxins while serving our country.

Thank you, President Joe Biden and First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden for leading our nation with dedication, empathy and wisdom. You have served our nation well.
