Senator Anna M. Caballero Resumes Position as Chair of Appropriations Committee
Sacramento- Senator Caballero (D-Merced) today thanked President Pro Tem McGuire for appointing her to the position of Chair of the Appropriations Committee in the Senate for the 2025-26 session. The Senate Appropriations Committee is a critical committee because it is where bills with a fiscal impact that cost money are referred for analysis. Senator Caballero released the following statement upon learning of her appointment:
“I am thankful for the trust placed in me by, President of the Senate McGuire to serve as Chair of the important Senate Appropriations Committee. The 2025 legislative cycle will offer an opportunity to bring forward the critical issues of working families across California. Good paying jobs, affordable housing, cost of living issues, access to healthcare and good educational opportunities are important issues in my district and across the state. This year, the catastrophic fires, the damages suffered, the fire suppression efforts and the lack of fire insurance will be foremost in all of our minds and will affect the work of the committee. My duty as Chair of the Committee makes us responsible for ensuring that California is investing resources thoughtfully and where needed most. I am up for the challenge. ”
In addition, Senator Caballero will serve as a Member of the following Committees:
- Judiciary
- Energy, Utilities and Communications
- Public Safety
- Legislative Ethics
- Housing
- Middle Mile Advisory Committee
- Joint Committee on Fairs Allocations and Classifications
- Rules Committee
