Senator Caballero Applauds Law Enforcement’s Success in Operation “To Catch a Predator”
Sacramento- Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced ) today issued a statement commending California Attorney General Rob Bonta, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol for their collaborative efforts in Operation “To Catch a Predator,” which led to the arrest of five individuals targeting minors for sexual exploitation.
“As a joint author of Senate Bill 14, along with Senators Grove and Rubio, I am proud to say that California has made sex trafficking of children a serious felony in our state. The passage of SB 14 was an important step to strengthen and protect our most vulnerable children by ensuring that predators face the full force of the law.
I applaud Attorney General Rob Bonta, the Madera County Sheriff's Office, the California Highway Patrol and all participating agencies for their work in Operation ‘To Catch a Predator.’ This multi-jurisdictional operation sent a clear and urgent message: California will not tolerate those who exploit our children. Thanks to strong laws now in place, predators will face serious consequences for their crimes.
The five arrests made during this operation are a sobering reminder that our fight is not over. Every successful enforcement action makes our state safer, but we must remain vigilant. We must continue to provide law enforcement and prosecutors with the necessary tools to hold traffickers accountable and expand support services for survivors.
To all survivors and their families: I stand with you. You are not alone. We will continue to fight for stronger protections, better resources and a future where every child in California can grow up safe, free and full of hope.”
You can access support services by using the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1. Additional information and resources to support survivors of human trafficking are available here.
