SACRAMENTO: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) introduced SB 1268, in the memory of Curtis Williamson, which would ensure the immediate family or guardian of a minor whose death is being investigated by law enforcement will be provided information relating to the investigation, including the contact information of the investigative officers, and access to personal effects.

SACRAMENTO: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) successfully secured $10 million to fund essential infrastructure needs in the rural, agricultural west side areas of Fresno County. She will spend the day in each city receiving funding to tour the future facility sites.

Caballero (D-Merced) announced her appointment as Chair of the Senate Governance and Finance Committee. The Committee exercises oversight on bills relating to the Board of Equalization, enterprise zones, vehicle license fees and taxes (estate, income, sales, property, and insurance).

Sacramento: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) announced that Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 24, “Calley’s Law,” into law.

Traver: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) was honored to join Governor Newson and colleagues at a rural elementary school in the county unincorporated community of Traver. At the press conference, historic legislation announced last week, was signed. AB/SB 156 provides $6 billion in investment to expand broadband infrastructure, with a commitment of $1 billion specifically allocated for rural areas, like those in Senator Caballero’s district.

Sacramento: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) is pleased to announce that the first of her bills to pass through the legislature and to be signed by Governor Newsom, is SB 347 The California Community and Neighborhood Tree Fund. SB 347 creates a voluntary contribution on the state income tax to help provide a consistent source of funding to CalFire’s Urban and Community Forestry program, with a special focus on small, urbanized communities that struggle with the long-term care and maintenance costs of tree planting programs.

Sacramento: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) is pleased to announce that the state budget includes $15 million to fund essential needs in five of the communities in the 12th Senate District. As the state enters an important economic recovery period post pandemic, this infusion of resources for rural, agricultural communities will be an important investment.
